BEAR Cruzer G2 Review – A Compound Bow That Pays Big Dividends

Since its inception in the late 1960s, the compound bow has left a lasting impact on the archery game. Today, there are hundreds of models to choose from, but if you’re looking for a high-quality bow that won’t completely wreck your budget, then the BEAR Cruzer G2 is the perfect bow for you.

The BEAR Cruzer G2 Compound Bow Review

The Cruzer G2 Compound Bow  is a bow manufactured by BEAR Archery. The G2 is the middle sibling of a series of bows including the Cruzer Light and the Cruzer G2 RTH. While it is in between these two compound bows, it is by no means as forgettable as a middle sibling. (If you are a middle child, we still love you)

This bow is made in both right- and left-hand draw and is built to be a high-quality model at a mid-range price. This bow is marketed to adult and adolescent archers of all skill levels. And once you take a closer look at the Cruzer G2, it is clear that they did a remarkable job on this bow.

BEAR Cruzer G2 Bow

Features and Specs

Extremely light, the Bear Cruzer G2  weighs in at a mere 3 pounds. This is just the first spec that shows why this bow is perfect for many ages and skill levels. The BEAR Cruzer G2 also features an adjustable draw length of 12-30 inches, giving it a draw power range of 10-55 lbs.*

*In case you’re confused, draw length is how far you can draw the bowstring back. Draw power is how much force you need to exert to pull the drawstring back, which translates to more power on your shot. The amount of draw power and length depends on several factors, including your size, skill level, and what type of game you’re hunting.

When it comes to hunting, staying as quiet as possible is an absolute must. This includes being able to quietly draw and fire your bow. To help with reducing string noise and vibrations, the BEAR Cruzer G2 comes with a RockStops suppressor.

As if that wasn’t enough, BEAR archery also included six key accessories with the Cruzer G2. It comes with a Trophy Ridge 4 Pin Sight, as well as a Whisker Biscuit Rest, which is a new type of arrow rest that utilizes a circle of bristles to keep the arrow stabilized while on the bow.

The BEAR Cruzer G2 also comes with a Trophy Ridge 5 arrow quiver, a Trophy Ridge Dart Stabilizer and Sling, Peep Sight, and Nock Loop.

BEAR Cruzer G2 Compound Bow Benefits

For a modestly priced bow, BEAR Archery definitely packed a lot of features and benefits into the Cruzer G2 . Having a lightweight bow is helpful for beginners especially. If you’re just learning how to shoot a bow, you definitely don’t want a heavy bow which will fatigue your arm quickly. Another feature that helps with this is the grip design, which helps reduce hand torque

When it comes to the draw length and weight, having adjustability is a must for any good compound bow. This technology is actually one of the biggest benefits to having a compound bow in the first place. To get different draw lengths and weights in a longbow, you have to go out and by a whole other bow.

With the adjustable draw length of 12-30 inches and a weight range of 10-55 lbs., this bow can meet you at your size, strength level, and needed power. To change these measurements, you simply use an Allen wrench to adjust them to your desired specifications.

As mentioned, one of the craziest benefits of buying the BEAR Cruzer G2 is all the accessories it comes with. With this bow, you get six different accessories. If you bought all of them separately, you would probably end up dropping a decent chunk of change in addition to what you paid for your bow. You can also remove these accessories and replace them with different ones if you so desire.

User Feedback

Users absolutely raved about so many things on the BEAR Cruzer G2.  Right off the bat, buyers loved the lightness of the bow and the accessories. After actually getting to shoot the bow, users were amazed at the accuracy and the ease of firing (after making the needed adjustments of course).

Some buyers said they did the adjusting themselves, others said they went to an outdoors shop, (which is often a courtesy option if you buy in-store)

Another quality of the BEAR Cruzer G2 that users loved was the durability. Many users stated that they have owned their Cruzer G2 for years, and it still works perfectly.

What was fascinating to see was the spectrum of users who wrote the feedback. There were several new archers of course, but there were also a fair amount of archers with 20 years of reported experience who had only positive things to say about the BEAR Cruzer G2.

BEAR Cruzer G2 Compound Bow Alternatives

If, for some reason, you don’t think the Cruzer G2 will satisfy all of your archery needs, here are a couple of alternatives to consider.

BEAR Archery Cruzer G2 RTH Compound Bow

Billed as the “adult” model, the BEAR Archery RTH  is the Cruzer G2’s big brother, so to speak. It is the same size, has the same weight, and has the same draw length. It also comes with the same accessories as the Cruzer G2. The only major difference is the draw weight range.

The BEAR Cruzer G2 RTH comes with a draw weight range of 5-70 lbs. This gives you both more options and higher maximum draw weight. For those who don’t need the extra velocity or option, stick with the G2. However, if you need the bigger range, or if you’re going after bigger game, then the G2 RTH is definitely a worthy option.

  • All adjustments are made using an Allen wrench with no need for a bow press
  • Weighs only 3 lbs. and shoots up to 315 feet per second

BEAR Cruzer Lite Compound Bow

We mentioned the big brother, so of course, we have to mention the baby brother BEAR Cruzer Lite.  (Because naturally, they have to get some attention). The funny thing is, it’s billed as the “Lite” model, but it is actually slightly heavier than the G2 and the G2 RTH, weighing in at 3.2 lbs. compared to 3 lbs.

Other key differences between the Lite and the other two BEAR compound bows is the draw length and weight. The Cruzer Lite’s draw length ranges from 12-27 inches and has a weight range of 5-45 lbs. This model is marketed more towards younger archers and is the recommended model if your child is getting into archery.

Diamond Archery Infinite Edge Pro Compound Bow

And now for a bow that is not made by BEAR Archery. The Infinite Edge Pro  is designed to compete with the Cruzer G2 RTH. However, it does not feature all of the same accessories as the G2 RTH and has a slightly different draw length.

The Infinite Edge Pro has a draw length of 13-31 inches, but still has the same draw weight as the G2 RTH of 5-70 lbs. Also, the Infinite Edge Pro is heavier than the Cruzer G2 and the Cruzer G2 RTH, weighing in at 3.2 lbs. the same as the Cruzer Lite.
