PSE Bow Madness 32 Review – Unleashing the Beast

You’ve learned how to shoot, and you’ve gotten comfortable using a compound bow. Now you want to upgrade from an entry-level compound bow. You don’t want to drop thousands of dollars on equipment, but you don’t want a piece of junk either. Fortunately, there is a very happy medium: The PSE Bow Madness Unleashed RTS Compound Bow.

PSE Bow Madness Unleashed 32 Review

This particular bow is made by the company PSE Archery (Precision Shooting Equipment). The Madness Unleashed is mad in name only. It was designed to be a high-quality bow for a very reasonable price. Whether you want to use this bow for hunting or target shooting, this bow handles both excellently.

  • Draw Length Range: 25" - 30 1/2"
  • Draw Weight: 70 lbs, Mass Weight: 3.9 lbs
  • ATA/IBO Speed: 340 fps, Let-Off: 85"

Overview and Accessories

At 32 inches from axle to axle (hence the name), The PSE Bow Madness 32 unleashed  is designed primarily for adults. Although some teens can probably handle it as well. For a full-size bow, it is actually fairly light at only 3.9 lbs (becomes slightly heavier with accessories.) Having a lightweight bow is always beneficial when you’re trying to aim your shot.

Another factor that contributes to the ease of shooting this compound bow is the type of limbs. The PSE Madness Unleashed 32, unlike other bows such as the BEAR Cruzer G2, uses compression limbs. These are limbs that are put under pressure when position, which increases tension on the strings, making your shots faster, quieter, and more accurate.

Draw Length

Speaking of shooting, this bow has a drawback range of 25-30.5 inches.  This can be adjusted using the single cam system at the bottom of the bow. This single-cam actually separates this bow apart from other PSE bows, which usually have a double cam system.

If you don’t know how to adjust your draw length, don’t worry. Most local sports stores can adjust it for you, or you can specify the desired draw length when you order the PSE Madness Unleashed.

String and Other Components

The string on the Madness Unleashed 32  is made of high-quality materials and is designed to be as quiet as possible. Also, there are lines located on the riser to tell you where to put the arrow, as well as speed beads to improve the string’s acceleration.

PSE Bows: The Leader In Draw Power and Speed

Now we come to one of the most important topics: draw power. The PSE Madness Unleashed has a draw power of 70 lbs. This is one of the higher draw weights available and is definitely geared towards adults. If you have a kid who can draw this bow, you probably have the next Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson living in your house.

All of the combining features on the PSE Madness Unleashed 32  provide a shot velocity rating of around 340 fps (feet per second). In the archery world, this is considered a very high velocity. At these speeds, the PSE Madness Unleashed is ideal for hunting larger game.

The surprising thing about the PSE Madness Unleashed is that for such a high-powered bow, it is very comfortable to shoot. Part of what makes this bow relatively easy to fire is the technological wizardry that sets apart compound bows from longbows and recurve bows: let-off.

Basically, when you fully draw a compound bow, there is a reduction in the weight you have to hold to keep it at full draw.

The creators of the Madness Unleashed 32 designed it with an 80% let-off. This means that at full draw, you’re only having to deal with 80% of the draw weight. (At 70 lbs this equals a let-off weight of 10.5 lbs) Such a high let-off makes this bow ridiculously easy to handle at full draw, virtually guaranteeing your shot will be accurate.

Included Accessories

To top it all off, the PSE Bow Madness Unleashed 32 comes in a “Ready to Shoot” (RTS) package that includes quite a few accessories. These accessories include a whisker biscuit rest, Flexxtech 3 stabilizer, a PSE Shadow Quiver, as well as a PSE neoprene sling, peep sight and a nock loop.

Madness Unleashed User Feedback

Across the board, users loved the quality and durability of the Madness Unleashed 32.  The RTS package was extremely appealing to buyers as well because they didn’t have to spend extra money on accessories. When the buyers used the Madness Unleashed 32 out in the field, they were completely thrilled with the speed and stealth that it provided.

Not only did users love the speed of the PSE Madness, but they also loved the ease of firing and the draw weight let-off. Also, users reported the quality of customer service from PSE was excellent. When you purchase the Madness Unleased 32, you can message PSE and have them adjust the draw length for you.

What Other Options Are Out There?

If for some reason, you decide that the Madness Unleashed 32 RTS is not the right bow for you, don’t worry. There are some alternatives to this bow that may provide different options that you’re looking for.

BEAR Archery Cruzer G2 Compound Bow

The Cruzer G2 is a slightly lower priced compound bow from Bear Archery. This bow is also an RTS package and comes with similar accessories as the Madness Unleashed 32. The main advantage that the Cruzer G2 has over the Madness Unleashed 32 is the adjustability.

The BEAR Archery Cruzer G2  has an adjustable draw length range of 12-30 inches and an adjustable draw power of 5-70 lbs (let-off: 70%). Now, this adjustability does have some drawbacks. The Cruzer G2 has a max speed of only 315 FPS, which of course decreases as you adjust the draw weight down.

If you’re looking for a bow that offers more adjustability and similar accessories, and maybe don’t need as much FPS, then you should definitely consider the BEAR Archery Cruzer G2.

PSE 2018 Ferocity RTS Compound Bow

The 2018 Ferocity is another PSE bow that comes as an RTS package. Stats-wise and price-wise the Ferocity is very similar to the Madness Unleashed 32. They both have around a 25-30 inch draw length and a 60-70 lbs draw weight and 80% let-off.

The only real difference between the two is that the PSE 2018 Ferocity RTS  is slightly smaller at 30 inches from axle to axle, and has a slightly lower max speed of 328 FPS. Another slight difference is the Ferocity comes with slightly different accessories including an Amp Sight, an FX4 stabilizer, and a Raven quiver.

If you’re looking for something similar to the Madness Unleashed 32, but want something slightly smaller, then you should check out the PSE 2018 Ferocity RTS.

Diamond Archery 2016 Edge SB-1 Compound Bow

The cheapest option out of all three bows, the Edge SB-1 is similar to the Cruzer G2 in many respects. It has similar adjustability ranges. You can adjust the draw weight from 5-70 lbs., and it has a draw length range of 15-30 inches. The slight edge that the Diamond Archery Edge SB-1  has over the Cruzer G2 is that it has an 80% let-off, like the Madness Unleashed and the 2018 Ferocity.

If you want a bang-for-your-buck compound that gives you accessories and adjustability, then the Diamond Archery 2016 Edge SB-1 may be the bow for you.

How To Adjust The Draw Length On A PSE Compound Bow?

The PSE Bow Madness will need a few minor adjustments before you put it to use. One of the most common adjustments needed is changing the draw length (it varies depending on your wingspan).
